Il existe 4 esp\u00e8ces diff\u00e9rentes :\u00a0<em>Synanceia Verrucosa, S. Nana, S Horrida, S Trachinis<\/em>. Ils sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme les poissons les plus venimeux du monde.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pr\u00e9sents dans les eaux chaudes et peu profondes des lagons et de la barri\u00e8re de corail ils\u00a0mesurent de 15 \u00e0 30 cm de long.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">R\u00e9put\u00e9s pour leur exceptionnelle capacit\u00e9 de camouflage et pour leur\u00a0immobilit\u00e9 presque totale, ces poissons ressemblent \u00e0 s\u2019y m\u00e9prendre au milieu dans lequel ils vivent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ils se nourrissent de petits poissons et de crevettes en ouvrant la bouche \u00e0 la vitesse de l&rsquo;\u00e9clair, l\u2019op\u00e9ration dure environ 0,015\u00a0secondes.\u00a0Leurs pr\u00e9dateurs sont les requins et les raies venimeuses et \u00e9galement d\u2019\u00e9pines venimeuses sur les nageoires pelviennes et anales.<\/p>\n<p>Leur venin tr\u00e8s puissant a des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s myotoxiques, neurotoxiques et h\u00e9molytiques.<\/p>\n<p>Attention, apr\u00e8s la mort du poisson le venin reste toxique 48 heures.\u00a0\u00a0Il est cependant\u00a0thermolabile mais n\u00e9cessite des temp\u00e9ratures \u00e9lev\u00e9es de l\u2019ordre de 50\u00b0C pendant trente minutes pour \u00eatre d\u00e9truit.<\/p>\n<p>La piqure de poisson-pierre se caract\u00e9rise par des douleurs souvent syncopales, des \u0153d\u00e8mes, des n\u00e9crose et parfois de signes plus gaves : convulsions, accidents cardiaques et respiratoires pouvant entra\u00eener la
